Three Quick Stops

April 14 thru 16, 2021

Our next three stops were quick one nights chosen for convenience and being open this time of year as we made our way in a south eastern direction, looking to see the Great Salt Flats in Utah. Each, a small campground right off the highway, nothing fancy and truly not ones where you'd want to spend more than a night, maybe two.

We made our way eastward through to Baker City, OR., down and over to Glenns Ferry, Idaho and down to Wells, Nevada. Got to follow the great Columbia River for a lot of the time. Such beautiful views to enjoy and well would have been even more so for Paul hadn't we been experiencing gusty winds along the length of it. He had to keep a good grip on the steering wheel for most of it, just adds to the adventure. One of the things we noticed traveling along through the mountains was the changing of environments, more deciduous trees as opposed to the abundance of evergreens in WA. The ride over the next three days took us in and out of the mountains, some with rather steep inclines and declines. So interesting how you go from mountains to flat land back to mountains. Some areas so desolate feeling one can't help but wonder how people manage there. Granted we where viewing things from the interstate but even many of the exits stated No Service At This Exit and the exits were quite far apart.

A-Frame RV Park is the first of the three, another small campground with few to no amenities, well kept, clean facilities, fine for a one night stay. Conveniently right off the highway, easy on, easy off. Grassy sites not too badly spread apart. Took a nice walk in the back field and along the road as no trails there.

Trail Break RV, Glenns Ferry, Idaho

Another quick stop in a small campground, Talk about relaxed owner, “Sure pick a site, I'll be back later and get you checked in.” Again, clean facilities, gravel site amazingly level, most site large pull throughs, with several long term back ins.

Took a walk into town. Quiet, old, historic town, unfortunately seeing a more depressed time. Perhaps once the weather turns warmer things will pick up there. One hates to see shuttered shops.

Angel Lake RV Park , Wells, Nevada

This one is definitely a one night stop. Imagine a large gravel parking lot with hookups, that was Angel Lake. Clean well kept facilities and a big laundry room which made life convenient. Another place where the only walking to be done was on the local side roads. Served its purpose but boy was it cold!! The weather has been much too chilly for this time of year. Woke up to frost on one side of the RV!

It was here where we found out the weather was taking a nasty turn where we were headed next. We were supposed to go up into Wyoming and on across but, nope, not going to happen. Suddenly the temperatures that were suppose to be in the high 20s changed to the single digits. More about the craziness of weather in my previous post.

All part of the adventure, did get some great photos so do enjoy!

Ta for now

Now this is something you don't see much of anymore LOL
