Leaving Nevada behind us, we traveled into Utah via the Bonneville Salt Flats and Great Salt Lake. Due to the weather and changes in our travel schedule we weren't able to appreciate this area as we would have liked. The Salt Flats are amazing and just seeing them as we did brings yet another appreciation to the wonders of nature. This immense area covered in what looks like crystallized snow, is what remains of a great lake from the Pleistocene Age (Ice Age). Amazing, yes?!?
We thought we would be able to stop and get out on the salt but again unfortunately, you can't do that traveling west to east on the Interstate. This was the same for the Great Salt Lake. You can if traveling East to West so if you visit that area be sure to approach from the East. And it was cold and very windy, traversing the low flat area you could feel the gusty wind rocking the RV. The weather, timing, and direction just wasn't with us that day. We got what photos we could and will be back to explore the area further one day.
We had consider taking Dexter over to the Bonneville Speedway and seeing just what she could do but the weather, timing, and well, Good Sense, prevented that. LOL
Did find a great rest area in which to have lunch and a walk, what views!
We were able to get out and take a nice long walk, shaking off the disappointments and roughness of travel of the day and keep the beauty that we experience in our minds.
Do enjoy some of that beauty we saw.

Hard to see it but the illusion of the mountains floating was fascinating. |
